Your page is composed, your copy proofread, your images in place. What is left is to make it visible: that is the “Go live” button, in the studio, and nothing else to install. Here is what happens when you click, what it includes, and how to go further with your own domain name.
Before you click: the checklist
Three things to check in the preview, at both widths (the “Mobile” button is next to “Desktop”):
- The copy. A double-click on a text fixes it. Check above all the phone number, the address and the opening hours: those are the lines people come for.
- The images. An empty frame fills with one click: your own photo, or a generated image, whose price shows beforehand. As long as an image is missing, the launch tells you and waits.
- The legal notices. A professional site must say who publishes it and how to reach them; the contact block and the footer are made for that. What the law requires is summed up in our page on mandatory notices.
The click: an address in one minute
“Go live” opens a small panel. There you choose the start of the address — your name, for example — and the site answers at once at your-name.29webs.com, over HTTPS, served by a worldwide network of servers. No host to choose, no file to upload, nothing to install on your computer.
Going live is paid once per site, at the price shown in the panel, in credits. Later launches of the same site are included: each edit made in the studio is published with one click on “Update”, with nothing more to pay.
What the address includes:
- The HTTPS certificate, renewed on its own. The padlock is there from the first second.
- The contact form. What your visitors write arrives in your 29webs account, under “Messages received”, and you can ask to be notified by email at the address of your choice.
- The “made by 29webs” signature, discreet, at the bottom of the page. It is removed once and for all with the option in the same panel.
Connecting your own domain name
You already have your-name.com, or you want to buy it? Two steps.
- Write to us from your account, with the domain name and your site’s
your-name.29webs.comaddress. We connect the domain to your site after checking that it really is yours. - At your registrar (where you bought the name), you add the record we give you — a single line, of the CNAME type. Allow from a few minutes to a few hours for the whole world to see it.
Your domain’s HTTPS certificate is issued and renewed by us, with nothing to do on your side. Your site stays reachable at its .29webs.com address during the switch, then answers at both.
If you don’t have a domain name yet, our page “Choosing a domain name” helps you choose and buy it; count around ten euros a year at most registrars.
Editing a site that is already live
The live site is a copy: what you change in the studio doesn’t touch it until you click “Update”. So you can try, undo, start again, without your visitors seeing the work in progress. When you like the page, “Update” replaces the old version in one go, with no downtime.
“Take down” gives the address back: the site no longer answers, and you keep it in Projects to put it back online later.
What we do for you
Server security updates, protection against common attacks, daily backups of your sites, monitoring: that is our job, included in the price. A 29webs site has no database to update, no plugins to watch, no exposed admin password: there is nothing to hack on the page itself, and that is deliberate.
What remains yours: up-to-date legal notices, and photos you hold the rights to.
